Our ex-Delhi yatra is two pilgrimages in one loop of Kumaon: the high-valley darshans of Adi Kailash and Om Parvat, and a temple trail home through Patal Bhuvaneshwar, Jageshwar Dham, Chitai Golu, and Kainchi Dham. It is completely door-to-door — board in Delhi on day 1, be dropped back on day 8 — with no train bookings, no midnight connections: one vehicle, one group, one escort throughout.

The trip has two halves. The first five days take you to the high valley: Delhi to Pithoragarh on the fast Tanakpur highway, then up along the Kali river to Gunji. From Gunji, you get Adi Kailash darshan at Jolingkong on one day, and Om Parvat darshan at Nabhidhang the next. The last three days bring you home through Kumaon’s most loved temples — the Patal Bhuvaneshwar cave temple, the old Shiva temples of Jageshwar, the bell-filled Chitai Golu temple, a night in Almora, and Kainchi Dham on the drive back to Delhi.

One thing we want you to know before booking: this route has no separate rest day at Gunji. You reach Gunji (3,200 m) one evening, and darshan starts the next morning. You sleep in a bed every night and we never drive after dark, but the height comes fast. So we check every yatri’s health before booking, and our escort carries a pulse oximeter on the trip.

The region requires an Inner Line Permit — our team files it for every yatri before departure. We are a private tour operator based in Pithoragarh, run by Uttarakhand locals; the Vyas Valley is home ground for our drivers and escorts.

1Delhi → Pithoragarh (via Tanakpur)1,627 m

Morning pickup from anywhere in Delhi NCR — your home, hotel, the airport, or a railway station. Out through Bareilly to Tanakpur, then up the wide Tanakpur–Champawat highway to Pithoragarh — 457 km, the fastest road into the district, done in daylight with no night driving. Evening trip briefing and permit document check. Overnight stay.

2Pithoragarh → Dharchula915 m

Altitude: 915 m

An easy morning drive down the Kali valley to Dharchula, the gateway town of the Vyas Valley, with final permit checks before the high valley. The evening is the fun part: a footbridge over the Kali river lets you walk straight into Nepal — the twin town of Darchula sits on the other bank. Stroll its bazaar and try a plate of Wai Wai, Nepal's favourite noodles. Carry a photo ID for the bridge; your escort will tell you the crossing timings. Overnight stay.

3Dharchula → Gunji3,200 m

Altitude: 3,200 m

Climb through Tawaghat and Lakhanpur with permit checks en route, reaching Gunji — our base in the high valley — by afternoon. A short, easy evening walk around the village helps the body meet the altitude; sleep early, because the two darshan days start here.

4Gunji → Jolingkong — Bhim Ki Kheti, Adi Kailash darshan, Parvati Kund → Gunji4,572 m

Altitude: 4,572 m

Drive to Jolingkong for darshan of Adi Kailash (Chhota Kailash), the Shiva temple, Parvati Kund (Parvati Sarovar), and Gauri Kund at its base — the heart of the yatra. Beyond Kuti, the last village of the valley, the road reaches Bhim Ki Kheti just below Jolingkong — the flat, field-like ground that local legend says Bhima ploughed during the Pandavas' exile, and the first close view of Adi Kailash. Return to Gunji by evening. Overnight stay.

5Gunji → Nabhidhang — Om Parvat darshan, Kailash Parvat view from Lipulekh (if permitted) → Pithoragarh4,340 m

Altitude: 4,340 m

The earliest start of the trip, up the Lipulekh road past the Kali temple at Kalapani to Nabhidhang for the ॐ darshan on Om Parvat. If the road is open, the weather is clear, and the Army / ITBP post at the border gives clearance, we continue up to the Old Lipulekh viewpoint for darshan of Kailash Parvat itself, across the border in Tibet. No passport or separate permit is needed for this — it depends only on the weather that day and the border post's approval. In past seasons, whenever the viewpoint has been open, our groups have had this darshan — we make sure of it. Then the long descent — out of the valley, through Dharchula, down to a much warmer night at Pithoragarh. Overnight stay.

6Pithoragarh → Patal Bhuvaneshwar1,350 m

Altitude: 1,350 m

With the high valley behind you, the yatra turns to Kumaon's temples. A relaxed morning drive to Gangolihat and the limestone cave shrine of Patal Bhuvaneshwar, where a guided descent leads past rock formations tied to legends from the Puranas. Overnight stay near the cave.

7Patal Bhuvaneshwar → Jageshwar Dham → Chitai Golu → Almora1,870 m

Altitude: 1,870 m

Through the deodar forest to Jageshwar Dham, the ancient cluster of stone Shiva temples, then on to Chitai Golu Devta near Almora, hung with the bells and letters of generations of devotees. Evening free in Almora bazaar. Overnight stay.

8Almora → Kainchi Dham → Delhi — yatra concludes216 m

Morning departure with a halt at Kainchi Dham, the ashram of Neem Karoli Baba on the Bhowali road, then down to the plains and home — arrival in Delhi by evening, dropped where we picked you up. Har Har Mahadev.

Where exactly is the Delhi pickup and drop?

Anywhere in Delhi NCR — your home, hotel, the airport, or a railway station. We pick you up there on the morning of day 1 and drop you at the same point on day 8 by evening. The exact time is confirmed in your WhatsApp group a few days before departure.

Which temples does this yatra cover besides Adi Kailash and Om Parvat?

The Kali temple at Kalapani on the way to Nabhidhang, then a full temple trail on the return: the Patal Bhuvaneshwar cave shrine, Jageshwar Dham, Chitai Golu Devta near Almora, and Kainchi Dham on the drive down to Delhi.

Does this itinerary have an acclimatisation day?

No — we say this plainly. The darshan days begin the morning after you sleep at Gunji (3,200 m), so this route asks more of your body than our 7-day routes. The escort carries a pulse oximeter and checks everyone at Gunji, and we screen honestly before booking. If you are above 60, new to altitude, or travelling with someone who is, take our ex-Kathgodam route — it holds a full rest day at Gunji.

Is the Inner Line Permit included?

Yes — fees and the entire application are handled by our team. You only send documents on WhatsApp at least 2–3 weeks before departure.

What is included in the price?

Transport from Delhi and back, all stays on sharing basis, breakfast and dinner daily with packed lunches on darshan days, the permit, and our escort throughout. Lunches on driving days, Patal Bhuvaneshwar entry and guide fees, and personal expenses are not included.

Can I join this trip from Kathgodam or Haldwani instead?

The way in runs via Tanakpur, so day-1 boarding works at Tanakpur. The return comes down through Almora and Kainchi Dham to the Haldwani side, so a day-8 drop near Kathgodam is easy. If you want to board on the Kathgodam side going in, our ex-Kathgodam departure is built for exactly that. Tell us on WhatsApp and we adjust the price for the shorter leg.
